The Culture Compass mobile and desktop app that we’ve been developing is here. We’re very excited about it, and we hope that we and you, our readers, can co-curate the cultural landscape.

This new app is a collaboration between me, the Founder and Editor of this site and technology supremo David Prior, and enabled by Courvoisier. Last year, Courvoisier launched their Future Bank project, a grant which is awarded to a partnership between two members of their Future 500 Network, from different backgrounds and industries. My ears pricked up, as I’d had an idea for a culture app for some time. So… I put a note out on the Future 500 forum and had a few replies from others wanting to collaborate.

After speaking with them further, it was clear that David and I ( after many Skype chats)  had similar ideas. Moreover, we wanted to create something that was truly engaging and promoted genuine inter-action. Pulling content and opinion in and not just pushing content and our ideas out. The result is Culture Compass.

Culture Compass launches on Android and iTunes this month,  and uses GPS technology to highlight events recommended  by this arts and culture magazine, Culture Compass, or  the Culture Spotters – you! Read more here

It’s easy to upload a spot, simply visit the main spotter site, send an email to spots@culturecompass.co.uk, Tweet with the hashtag #culturespot or fill in the form on the mobile app. Spots are worth points, and when you receive a certain number of points you can earn a badge to display your culture credentials on your online space, or with lots of points,  choose to become a moderator. Loyal and regular Spotters are also entered into prize draws, and if a spot is used in the main editorial, the Spotter will get a byline and contributor page. We will publish all the specific details over the next few days.

Once an event piques your interest, click on the icon to reveal the information and Culture Compass will guide you straight to the venue.

We’re just beginning, and we really welcome feedback. The Culture Compass app is all about Crowd Curation - taking the wisdom and knowledge of many – you- putting it through a filter – us – and serving back.
