If you think filling your pancake with lemon and sugar is a bit predictable, then maybe creating a desert island or forest panscape might be more up your street this Pancake Day?
We went along to Lyle’s Golden Syrup Syrup Pancake Play Day on Saturday at Atelier des Chefs and actually managed to re-create ( perhaps not quite as well as theirs) their very impressive ‘rapids’ and ‘volcano’ panscapes.

The foodie art is the brainchild of cutting edge food experts Polly Betton and Andrew Stellitano of The Experimental Food Society who use the humble pancake in its original form, but then bake, crumble and colour to make stunning and surprising edible sculptures.

What’s more, it is possible to make them at home. So if you’re planning a flipping good evening, have a look at Andrew teaching you how to make the panscapes, and enjoy a creative Pancake Day with a difference.
